Krizmanich Attorney-John Joseph Hall 57 ABSTRACT A dispensable head covering for a persons head for dispensing from a box or roll, having perforations or scoring separating one unit from the other, each of the units having perforated or scored ear tab portions, and formed from two layers of stretchable material connected at their top edges to each other, with optional heat sealed front edges to accommodate various head sizes.
3 Claims, 9 Drawing Figures DISPENSABLE HEAD COVERING BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Although various types of head coverings have been known for use in covering a persons head, applicant knows of no prior art showing the particular structure of the head covering described herein or the feature of such head covering being dispensable from a box or roll.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention comprises a dispensable head covering of a new and novel design and construction, such that is readily adapted for dispensing from a roll or box, in a series of consecutive single units.
The units may be either folded in a box, so they may be dispensed by pulling one unit out at a time, leaving a portion of the next unit extending out of the box sufficiently to be grasped by a persons fingers, or in a roll in which each unit is separated from the others by perforations or scoring which permit pulling a single unit away from the others as desired.
The perforated or scored ear tab portions allow a persons ears to remain exposed as desired by pulling off the portions or merely folding the portions back.
The head covering has an additional feature of sealed portions at the front end of its open edge to accommodate various sizes of a persons head. Sealed portions may be easily opened by pulling as desired so that the head covering will provide a better fit of a persons head.
The invention also provides a perforated or scored vshaped front portion to facilitate handling of the head covering at all stages of its use.
Each unit is formed from two layers of stretchable or expandible material having a slight convex curvature, preferably, at its top edge where the two layers are joined together by any suitable means, and a slight concavity, preferably, at its lower edge, which is open. Each unit of the dispensable head covering remains flat until it is dispensed from a box or a roll.
It is,'therefore, an object of my invention to provide a head covering for a persons head which may be easily dispensed from a roll.
Another object of my invention is to provide a head covering for a persons head which may be easily dispensed from a box.
A further object of my invention is to provide a head covering having a feature of a plurality of sealed portions at one end to accommodate various head sizes of persons.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a head covering with a feature of perforated or scored ear tab portions to promote a more comfortable fit for a persons head.
A yet further object of my invention is to provide a head covering -with a perforated or scored v-shaped front portion to facilitate dispensing of the head covering and to promote a more comfortable fit for a persons head.
An additional object of my invention is to provide a head covering which can be manufactured at relatively little cost in relatively large numbers.
Yet another object of my invention is to provide a head covering which is relatively easy to use and to dispose of after being used. p
These and other objects will be more readily understood by reference to the following specification and claims, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which FIG. I is a side elevational view of an embodiment of my invention on a persons head.
FIG. 2 is a front elevational view of an embodiment of my invention on a peronss head.
FIG. 3 is a plan view of two units of an embodiment of my invention separated by perforations or scoring.
FIG. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3.
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a consecutive series of units of my invention in a roll, separated by perforations or scoring from each other.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a series of separate units of an embodiment of my invention arranged in folded layers in a box with a slot for dispensing by pulling units form the box.
FIG. 7 is a plan view of two units of another embodiment of my invention, similar to FIG. 3, but showing a plurality ofsealed portions at one end.
FIG. 8 is a plan view of two units of another embodiment of my invention made of material capable of being folded into position as desired at its open edges.
FIG. 9 is a slide elevational view of the embodiment of FIG. 8, showing the folded positions available in use on a persons head.
The dispensable head covering 10 is preferably made from two flat portions or sides 12 of stretchable material, such as crepe paper or various suitablev plastic materials. The top edges 14 of the sides 12 have aslight convex curvature which corresponds to a slight concave at the bottom edges 16 of the sides 12 of the next unit of the head covering 10 in roll form.
The sides 12 are joined along the top edges 14 by any suitable means such as sewing or heat sealing, and also along the front portion 18 and back portion 20. The bottom edges 16 are open. Perforations or scaring 21 separate edges 14 from edges 16 in roll form. The head covering 10 is provided with perforated or scared ear tab portions 22 along its bottom edges 16 and with perforated or scared v-shaped portion 24 in its front portion*18, preferably.
The head covering 10 is also provided with sealed portions 26 toward its front along the bottom edges 16, which sealed portions 26 may be opened by pulling as desired to improve the fit on a persons head.
In use, the embodiment of my invention in roll form is dispensed by pulling one unit of the head covering 10 away from the perforations or scaring 21 separating it from the next unit of the head covering 10. The bottom edges 16 are separated sufficiently so that the head covering 10 may be placed on a persons head. If the head covering 10 is provided with sealed portions 26, such portions are pulled apart if necessary to improve the fit of the head covering on a person's head.
If the'head covering is provided with perforated or scared ear tab portions 22, they may be removed or folded back over a persons ears as desired. If the head covering is provided with a perforated or scored vshaped front portion 24, it may be removed or folded back as desired. After being used, the head covering 10 may be discarded or removed for further use if desired.
Where the embodiment of my invention is to be dispensed from a box, such as box 28, the user merely pulls the extending edge of one unit of the head covering 10 away from the box 28 and then uses the head covering as previously mentioned above. As the first unit of the head covering 10 is pulled away, it causes the next unit of the head covering 10 in the box to extend its edge out of slot 30 of the box 28 so that it may be readily pulled out as desired.
Although I have described preferred embodiments of my invention, it is understood that various and sundry modifications in construction and arrangement of parts may be made within the scope of my invention and within the following claims.
Iclaim:
